Our eight day stay in New York City, during which time we minded the grandkids, was jam packed. It started the first evening with a walk through Central Park to dinner at Cafe Luxembourg, then over the next week, lunch at a Prospect Hts. Mexican restaurant with food from Jalisco, Hotel Elysée, many visits to The Social for ice cream, The Brooklyn Museum to see the exhibit of Paul McCartney photos, a firefighter’s funeral on Fifth Ave., South Street Seaport & DUMBO, Franklin Ave., Times Sq., “Once Upon A Mattress,” the 2nd showing of “Between Two Temples,” Brooklyn Botanic Garden, subways, buildings, construction, Tribeca walking tour, a Circle Line Tour around Manhattan Island, people watching & family, family, family. There were were photo opportunities aplenty, especially of sites never before seen or seen a long time ago. The next few blog postings will be bursting with these adventures.

Photography Influences and Techniques
"'Everywhere I went I just took pictures.... I was definitely looking for interesting shots, angles, lighting, compositions.'
-Paul McCartney
The photographs in this exhibition were taken with a Pentax 35 mm single-lens reflex camera. This type of advanced lightweight camera, made in Japan, was quick and easy to use. Young photojournalists and fashion photographers in the early 1960s,...were attracted by the potential it offered for working spontaneously.
The camera enabled McCartney to capture the fast pace of his new life in the spotlight."

Work went on.
We hoped there'd be no fires in NYC now.

"The c. 1929 Quin Central Park by Hilton Club is located on the corner of 57th Street & 6th Avenue. It is a Beaux-Arts style building designed by American architect Emery Roth.
The Quin Arts Program...features a contemporary artist-in-residence program...Under the program, artists stay & work at the hotel, enabling guests to interact with them & gain insight that goes beyond what a visit to museum or gallery can impart. The program has mostly included street artists who have drawn & painted on hotel doors, stairwells, & other areas, in addition to exhibiting work in the lobby.
In September 2016, the Quin commissioned Chaz Barrisson, half of the street art duo London Police, to paint two of his signature grinning characters on the wall by the service doors of the hotel."
