This is the last in the series of blogs about our August 2024 visit to NYC. Most of the photos were taken in Brooklyn.
I was attracted to all the orange in this scene. We thought that we were headed here to see Between the Temples. But it was up the stairs at the Walter Reade Theatre.
"Between the Temples Review: A Widower walks Into a bar and meets his former music teacher, upending his life, in Nathan Silver’s touching comedy, starring Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane." We enjoyed this film at the Walter Reade Theater - Film at Lincoln Center. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/22/movies/between-the-temples-review.html
We saw it the night following its premiere. We were delighted to find that following our showing there was a discussion with the writer, producer/writer & two of the actors. It's much better than the Netflix series Nobody Wants This that's getting so much attention.

I remember when folks would sit in lawn chairs in front of their apartment buildings with transister radios listening to the ball game.

The sign on the police barricade said…

YES: FRIENDS, FAMILIES, KIDS, GRANDPARENTS, COUSINS COOKING, GRILLING, GAMES ARTS & CRAFTS, YOGA & FUN"
Imagine the noise.

...as park wildlife."

Chai means life in Hebrew.
I had heard mention of the Bushwick section of Brooklyn many times but had never been there.
I rode with Elliot when he went to pick up Casey at her Bushwick studio.
Besides the architecture & murals, I noticed the upstairs DENTAL OFFICE.
Elliot knew to stop so I could take a photo of IRIS BIKE SHOP - CASH ONLY.

The cheapest gas station in Brooklyn & full service. The attendant pumped the gas & would have checked fluid levels & tire air pressure if requested! Williamsburg.

Early morning view of recently renovated c. 1952 Lever House, looking east from our room in the Hotel Elysée.
Considered to be an icon of the late International Style, Lever House was designated a NYC landmark in 1962. It was the second skyscraper in New York City with a glass curtain wall, after the United Nations Secretariat Building.
Our Sri Lankan cabbie driving us to JFK. He related the tale of his teenage daughter having a kidney transplant 7 weeks ago.
Pretty darn good I'll say!
Next up our upcoming visit to Morocco.
