Food Field Trip - Hawai'ian adventure a few miles from home & textiles in metal - Dec. 9. 2021

Once again an article in the SF Chronicle precipitated another food, field, trip. This time we were off to San Bruno & a visit to the Diamond Head General Store. We were not disappointed. While on the San Francisco Peninsula, we ventured further down to San Carlos, to visit the studio of Barbara Berk.

Now we have a new destination for food on a return from SFO.

They were just experimenting with making imagawayaki (今川焼き) a Japanese dessert that is like a stuffed pancake. The batter is poured into a special cast-iron round grilled pan and grilled until crispy ...

She made some for us as a special treat. Two were stuffed with coconut cream & the other two with chocolate & a macademia nut.

Of course we had room for shaved ice with three flavors & condensed milk on top.

Maybe we had stomach aches that evening...
