A journalism assignment: As a reporter you've recently done photo essays on the workers, art, people, museums, food & architecture of New York City but what are some of the other things that really make NYC so special?

Many folks confused the classic NY Giants logo with the NY Mets..

I couldn’t resist these fabulous windows.
“Creating Bergdorf Goodman holiday windows takes ten months, involves over 100 people, and requires about three weeks to install.”
Of the seven Holiday Wndows at Bergdorf Goodman., each is a unique take on the theme "ISN'T IT BRILLIANT" with a special storytelling narrative.

A few hours after this incident, were were in Times Sq. & headed back to Brooklyn.
Our usual 50 minute trip from Times Sq. o Brooklyn, took over two hours that night. Recounting this incident to New Yorkers left them unfazed. “So what else is new?”
On the NYC Transit Museum Nostalgia ride they kept the doors open between the cars. Just like old times.
I spent most of the trip looking out between the cars.

The ubiquitous underground stand. But this one had a different take with all those used books for sale..
Subway emergency exit - think of the film, Taking of the Pelham 1,2,3.

This is the latest style of a decked out delivery E-bicycle.
The bicycle delivery folks are everywhere & couldn’t care less about traffic laws.

Our first evening, Nomi was in the crosswalk with a closely approaching taxi cab. I warned her but she retorted that she had her “NY on.”
Pedistrians dealing with a cross walk & taxis & buses & cars & other people.
Those diagonal lines in the intersection denote that in this intersection pedestrians can participate in the "Barnes Dance" a.k.a. “a scramble..” “…an intersection where car traffic halts for a bit so pedestrians can cross in all directions. …named for 1962, Traffic Commissioner Henry Barnes.”
Speaking of taxis...
It’s an art to know where to hail a cab so it’s going in the correct direction to get you to your destination in the least amount of time & fare.
Not to mention a police presence.
Constant construction & resultant noise.
The noise from this disturbed our breakfast.
Combine the construction noise with the subway cars & it becomes overwhelming.
Construction changing the face of New York City.

The cleanest NY Dept. of Sanitation truck that I have ever seen. Soon to arrive are electric versions at about $500,000 each.
