Philly was more of a delight than we expected.
Wm. Penn did a wonderful job of laying out the city. It’s all flat making walking everywhere possible.
We managed to find an excellent Philly cheesesteak at “Oh Brother.”
The downtown boasted a lot of wonderful architecture dating back to the mid 1700’s. Plus, there were sculptures everywhere.
The Barnes Foundation is a gem not to be missed. To complement it, viewing the documentary, “The Art of the Steal,” is important. Actually, if you visit museums anywhere, the documentary is a must-see eye opener.
In Pennsylvania, a motor vehicle can make a right turn on a red light but the drivers have absolutely no respect for people in crosswalks. We saw a woman pushing a baby stroller while holding a toddler’s hand almost get hit by a car. They made NYC’s drivers look positively polite.
The stoplight times are extremely short at intersections and the busses talk “Making a right turn…”
We saw very few electric vehicles. There was far less trash and dog poop about than in NYC.
However, there was a lot of construction.
The cost of housing is far less than NYC resulting in a lot of New Yorkers moving here.
