"Life In Its Poetic Form" - Clinton Hill to B'klyn Navy Yard -N.Y.C. Finally Revisited October 2021

In our walks about Brooklyn over the years we have noted many churches, some substantial & some not so. This is a prediction printed in an 1844 edition of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle: “ ‘THE CITY OF CHURCHES’ — such, in time, will be the distinctive appellation of Brooklyn. In the ensuing decades, the incorporation of new houses of worship matched the pace of residential development and reflected the diverse ancestry of the immigrant communities who settled there.” This continues to this day with not only churches but synagogues & now mosques. On our walk to & from the B’klyn Navy Yard, we passed many churches as the 8+ miles disappeared under our feet.

Clinton Hill, as we observed it, was reminiscent of New Orleans, LA & Savannah,. GA

The house was dilapidated but the large hibiscuses looked great. We continued to observe large hibiscuses in front of many homes in B'klyn.

Even the apratment buildings here looked special.

She’s looking carefully before running a red light. "During the worst of the pandemic in 2020, New York saw a 33 percent increase in cycling during weekdays, according to the latest Cycling In the City annual report put out by the Department of Transportation.”…“So far this year, there have been 13 cyclists killed. That’s half the number of cyclists killed in all of 2020, which was a record high year since de Blasio took office.”

I was "taken" by this house as we approached it from the rear. Turns out it's supposedly the most photgraphed house in Brooklyn. It's stately but in poor condition.

"The c. 1 840's Joseph Steele house is a survivor from when the area was still farms and suburban villas. One could once see the harbor from the widow’s walk and cupola."

Russ & Daughters! The food looked so scumptious we had a feeling we'd be returning there for lunch for & for acquiring some herring for breakfasts.

A custard filled bombolone piccolo with a café macchiato was beyond reproach.

That was billed as an autonomous vehicle but it had a driver.

We thought the security guard looked like he was operating a sound board for a major music event.
